218 Letter of appointment
218.1 Procedure
A letter of appointment is issued by the appointing church for completion at the induction of an ordained minister. Sufficient copies are provided for the appointing church, Partner churches, JRC, parish, minister and Forum. The letter is necessary confirmation of the agreed term of ministry being entered upon. (See 212.5)
218.2 Advice
Churches, upon setting a date for the induction of a minister, should advise the Forum office, supplying appointee's full name and the agreed term of appointment.
218.3 Extensions of appointment
New letters of appointment are not required when the extension of an appointment begins. The appointing church advises the minister, parish, JRC, Forum and Partner churches by letter that the appointment is being extended and confirms the length of extension. (See 424)
218.4 Code of Ethics
Attention is drawn to the Code of Ethics as contained in Section 219 and all appointees are required to accept the requirements of the Code as stated in that section.
